SOUL OF A SAINT

When it rains it pours, then the thunder roars and the lightning strikes...and that's just the way it is...until the clouds part and the sun shines through and the glory of God is revealed.

Today I had to take my 11 year old son Jacob to a Neurologist to find out why his legs are trembling uncontrollably at night. Next week he'll undergo a test to determine if it's a physical problem...because it could be emotional. The mind under stress can manipulate a multitude of symptoms...and trigger a ton of ailments. At any rate, there's something wrong...or not quite right...and we're determined to find some anwers. His grandmother, a nurse came with us...for support and to lend her medical opinion...She made us feel secure and serene-- and loved.

As we walked through Children's Hospital, we saw all kinds of kids with serious health issues...I felt sad for them...and told Jake how blessed we really are...He said, "funny you should mention that--I was thinking the same thing...that I was taking up valuable space and valuable time from the doctor these kids needed to see." Out of the mouths of babes...the soul of a Saint! I assured him he was just as valuable as the other kids...deserved to be poked and prodded and examined just like them...and I let him know that every doctor would love to send a child like him home...with a clean bill of health...healthy as a horse! He smiled.

Later we talked with his worried brothers...and his dad...and we did homework and ate dinner and watched tv and then I slipped away to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel-- to meet my maker and to give thanks for hopes and dreams and healings and the days gone by and the tomorrows yet to come--Because at the end of every day-rain or shine, there's a silver lining-- on the other side of the rainbow...and that's a covenant that can never be broken.
