Have Faith!

Researching material for a book I'm writing...I came across the messages of the Blessed Mother in Medjugorje.

They call her the Queen of Peace-the mother of recovery...who came on a white cloud begging humankind to turn back to God...to surrender their will...to practice their faith...before we destroy ourselves and one another.

My favorite message has always seemed- simply- profound...It goes something like this "God has a special role for you in his plan of salvation, but to understand that role...you must pray." Another urges "Peace in our hearts, peace in our homes and then we can spread peace throughout the world."

For those of us who have been to Medjugorje, and those who have not, but who still believe...the messages are meant to be lived by us...every single second of every single day. But sometimes, life gets in the way of our good intentions...in the way of our faith...in the way of our destiny--Life gets in the way, because we let it...we let go of God--and his saving strength-right when we need him the most.

My friend told me several months ago-that someone was questioning Medjugorje because of the challenges in my life......She laughed in disbelief...telling this person-that none of us can escape the cross...not even Jesus...but that we can right our wrongs...through his example, by picking up our crosses and carrying them with dignity and faith...while learning the lessons of true humility and unyielding surrender.

I can tell you--it's worth a try...because try as we may-life gets in the way...and sometimes it gets us down...but when we hold on-tightly to God-he always lifts us up...to exactly where we are supposed to be...and for me, that's exactly where I want to be.

HRUSHIV UKRAINE: APPARITIONS OF THE BLESSED MOTHER

Twenty four years ago today, April 27, 1987 the Blessed Mother allegedly appeared in Hrushiv Ukraine with a warning and words of consolation. She came on the Feast of the Ascension, exactly one year after the nuclear reactor disaster at Chernobyl saying "Do not forget those who have died...Chernobyl is a reminder and a sign for the whole world." As we sat in silence, meditating...I nudged my friend Terri, "What do we have to complain about?!" I whispered. There he hung, pain stricken, vulnerable in his nakedness, sharp thorns cutting into his head, pleading eyes fixed on the heavens. What I thought, on God's green earth, do I have to complain about?! That's probably why they do it...place the life like crucifix dead center-above the altar, just above the Blessed Sacrament, right where you can't miss it...just to remind us-things could be worse, but they're destined to get better-if we keep our eyes focused-on the solution.
