JOURNEY TO RWANDA
A young woman I know is heading to Rwanda today. She's pulling herself out of the hustle and bustle and drama of this world and putting herself in service to God and to children and to the direction of the Holy Spirit.
We talked about her surrender to the call and her fears of the unknown...and we marveled at the roadblocks we erect when God is trying to remove all the obstacles.
We journeyed together down memory lane and ran through the field of dreams...the desires of the heart that inspire us to keep on moving forward...one day at a time.
I am always in awe when a young person sees through the eyes of faith and longs for the will of God to be manifested in their life. Being open is half the battle...being willing requires incredible character.
You see the world is always offering us tantalizing gifts of fame and fortune, power and prestige...always luring us with a false sense of security, that suddenly sends us into downright insanity. The world is a gift of many glorious and golden opportunities...but a huge vessel of vainly entrenched follies and fanatical finger pointing.
To step back and review the world she lives in-and the person she is becoming-is perhaps the most courageous choice any human being can make-at any age. My young friend knows deep within, that God is offering her the world-the one he designed-for her-when she is ready to embrace it. She knows it will take time, God's time--and her willing heart-to reach that place that will propel her into a future that is bright and bold and filled with the rich intentions that only heaven can create.
Removing herself from the roadblocks and the obstacles and the fears that fuel the indecision, walking away from the familiarity and the family and the festering riddles that really make us wonder which side is up...or down-is perhaps the biggest step toward walking in the shoes that have been crafted just for her.
My young friend is a gifted professional singer and song writer...with a soul that soothes and a sensitivity that intuitively understands...Her inner knowing is also a gift, which she has carefully, cautiously and completely abandoned to the will of God.
I know, deep within, that as she heads to this faraway land, bringing hope and honesty, humility and joy, she will also be bringing the language of Love that is expressed most completely every single time one human being lends a helping hand to another...And before she knows it, the power of that Love in action, will transform her life, while healing her heart and providing the clarity of purpose that she so richly deserves...and which destiny has anointed!
