DYING TO FORGIVE, ILLUMINATING THE SOUL
Near death is like a near miss...It's a second chance to learn life's most valuable lessons.
My friend's husband died not too long ago...But, several weeks before his death, he went through a near death experience. It was both beautiful and hellacious, merciful and condemning. It is the kind of story that speaks volumes, in a very intimate way.
My friend told me, her beloved spouse, experienced the illumination of his soul. That internal vision when we receive the deepest understanding of our true self... The good, the bad, the ugly. In his case, he saw his heart torn in two...One side radiated a gold color, the other side looked blue and much darker..She said he felt drawn to the bright side...but he was pulled to the dark side...where ugly beast like demons taunted and tore him, in a bizarre physical attack.
The agonizing pain and suffering and the emptiness that followed, continued until he gave up completely-surrendering his power and control to the will of God. She said her husband knew, beyond a doubt, that he had separated himself from God's healing Love. By letting down his guard and letting go, God could release him from the pain, the persecution-and the pitfalls of his past. In return, a profound feeling of peace and joy enveloped him.
While my friend's husband was not permitted to enter heaven, he was allowed to re-enter this life, just long enough to reconcile his relationships, by making amends to those he had hurt.
When I think about how God gave this wonderful man a chance to clean up his life, just weeks before his final death...I am utterly amazed at heaven's spiritual generosity. I am also aware that this gift of accountability and acceptance, forgiveness and renewal, is a wake up call for me-and for the rest of the world.
Like the infamous television interview I conducted with near death survivor, Howard Storm, this near death story has a definite purpose. To inspire each and every person to boldly and honestly review their lives, and then do whatever it takes to conform their personal will, to the will of their higher power-even if that means a 180 degree about face.
...Because, let's face it...It's now-or later...No one skates!
